KidneySafe Check is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
The app requests camera access only when you tap "Scan ingredient label." The camera is used solely to capture an image of a product label for on-device text recognition. The image is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. Camera access can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
All scanning, searching, and risk assessment happens locally on your device. The ingredient database is bundled with the app. No internet connection is required for search or risk assessment (only the initial OCR engine download requires connectivity).
Your recent lookups and saved items are stored temporarily in your browser's session storage. This data exists only on your device, is never transmitted, and is automatically cleared when you close the browser. No account or login is required.
The app loads two external resources: Google Fonts (for typography) and Tesseract.js (for text recognition when scanning). These are standard open-source resources. No personal data is sent to these services.
This app is not directed at children under 17. It is a clinical reference tool intended for adults, patients, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals.
If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected in the app and on this page.
